There is a very specific feeling that hits you the moment you step off Sheikh Zayed Road and through the revolving doors of a Majid Al Futtaim mall on a sweltering July afternoon in Dubai. The temperature drops in an instant — twenty degrees, at least — and somewhere deep in the building, the faint mechanical hum of Ski Dubai's refrigeration system reminds you that actual snow exists less than a ten-minute walk from where you are standing. Outside, the mercury is pushing 43°C. In here, the world is perfectly, blissfully cool.

Whether you have been living in Dubai for a decade or you are visiting for the first time, these malls are not just convenient during summer — they are, I would argue, the smartest place to spend your time. Here are eleven reasons why I keep coming back.
1. The Sale Season Is the Best of the Year
As of July 2026, Majid Al Futtaim malls are running Dubai Summer Surprises offers with discounts of up to 75% off across hundreds of brands — fashion, beauty, electronics, home goods and more. Mall of the Emirates alone hosts over 630 stores during DSS, and the breadth of the deals this year is extraordinary. International luxury brands sit alongside high-street names, and the sale timings are staggered across the season so there is always something new dropping. I check the official DSS portal on Visit Dubai the night before I visit so I already have a shortlist.
2. Ski Dubai Is Even Better When It's 43°C Outside
This never gets old. Inside Mall of the Emirates, there are 22,500 square metres of real snow sitting at a constant −1°C to −4°C. Ski Dubai opened in 2005 as the first indoor ski resort in the Middle East. In summer it is markedly less crowded than in the cooler months, meaning shorter queues and more time on the slopes. The 400-metre main run, the Snow Bullet zipline and the penguin encounters are all operating. Book online in advance — summer pricing is typically among the best of the year.
3–4. VOX Cinemas and the Best Screens in the Middle East
MAF operates VOX Cinemas, the largest cinema chain in the Middle East and North Africa, with locations inside Mall of the Emirates, City Centre Deira, City Centre Mirdif and more. The IMAX, 4DX, KIDS and MAX screens make these among the most immersive theatrical experiences you will find anywhere. Summer 2026 is stacked with blockbusters, and a VOX visit on a Tuesday or Wednesday morning is one of Dubai's quieter pleasures.

City Centre Mirdif has one of my favourite food hall layouts in Dubai — an open atrium design with authentic Middle Eastern restaurants and international fast-casual concepts. City Centre Deira's dining floor has been refreshed recently and now includes excellent standalone restaurant concepts. If you are planning a full DSS day, building in a sit-down meal is worth the time.
