Moonwalks in Dubai: The World-Famous Michael Jackson Tribute Returns This July

The first four notes of Billie Jean do something to a room. The bassline drops, a single spotlight finds a silver-socked figure mid-stage, the fedora tips down — and ten thousand people who thought they were just out for the evening suddenly forget to breathe. That is the moment Dubai gets to live again this July, because the world's most acclaimed Michael Jackson tribute is moonwalking back into town, and if you grew up on Thriller you are going to want to be in that arena.

After a run of sold-out shows, the celebrated production Michael Lives Forever returns to Dubai for one night only, bringing the King of Pop's catalogue, choreography and pure theatrical spectacle to one of the city's best indoor venues. Here is everything you need to know — the date, the man behind the moonwalk, the songs, the tickets and how to make a proper night of it.

Michael Lives Forever: the show, the date, the venue

As reported by Gulf News and What's On, Michael Lives Forever lands at the Coca-Cola Arena in City Walk on Saturday 18 July 2026, with the show beginning at 8:30pm. It is a full-scale arena production rather than a club tribute act: a live band, signature MJ choreography, authentic wardrobe recreating Jackson's most recognisable stage looks, and the kind of lighting and staging the Coca-Cola Arena does so well. For a summer evening in Dubai, an air-conditioned 17,000-seat venue and two hours of the greatest pop catalogue ever written is close to a perfect plan.

Who is Rodrigo Teaser?

At the centre of it all is Brazilian performer Rodrigo Teaser, widely regarded as one of the most authentic Michael Jackson tribute artists in the world. He is the only Latin American artist officially recognised by Sony Music as an MJ tribute performer, began playing the role at the age of nine, and has taken the show internationally — including a performance in front of around 40,000 spectators around the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. What sets him apart is not just the vocal likeness but the movement: the lean, the spin, the moonwalk, all studied down to the millimetre.

He does not do it alone, either. The production's creative circle reads like a roll-call from Jackson's own touring era — the very people who helped build the live shows the rest of us only ever watched on screen.

  • Lavelle Smith Jr — choreographer — the choreographer who worked directly with Michael Jackson, shaping some of his most iconic stage routines.

  • Jennifer Batten — guitarist — Jackson's longtime lead guitarist from his world tours, famous for that searing Beat It solo.

  • Kevin Dorsey — vocal director — MJ's vocal director, lending the harmonies their unmistakable, era-correct sound.

Guitarist Jennifer Batten in particular is a genuine piece of Michael Jackson history rather than a soundalike, which is part of why this production carries a credibility most tributes simply cannot claim.

The setlist: a greatest-hits journey through pop history

If you are wondering whether they play the songs you actually want to hear, relax — this is built as a greatest-hits journey through pop history, spanning Jackson's whole career. Expect the anthems that defined a generation, including:

  • Billie Jean — the spotlight moment, complete with the moonwalk that stopped the world in 1983.

  • Beat It — with that legendary guitar solo brought to life on stage.

  • Thriller — the era-defining horror-pop epic and its unmistakable choreography.

  • Smooth Criminal — and yes, fans always hope for the gravity-defying lean.

  • And many more — from the Off the Wall, Bad and Dangerous catalogue, woven into one continuous show.

It is the rare concert where you will know every word before the first chorus — which makes it ideal for a mixed group of ages, from nostalgic parents to teenagers discovering just how good these songs really are.

My honest tip: do not treat this as a sit-down-and-watch evening. Wear something you can dance in, get there early enough to feel the room fill up, and pick standing or floor tickets if you possibly can. Half the magic of a Michael Jackson night is the crowd moving as one — you want to be inside that, not observing it from the back row.

Tickets, prices and how to book

Tickets start from AED 125 and rise to around AED 595 for the best seats, which is genuinely accessible for an arena production of this scale. They are available through the official Coca-Cola Arena website (or by calling the box office on 800 223388). Given that Rodrigo Teaser's previous Dubai shows sold out, the sensible move is to book sooner rather than later — this is very much a one-night-won't-stay-available-for-long situation. Prices and availability are as of June 2026; always confirm the latest on the official site before you buy.

Make a night of it in City Walk

One of the best things about a Coca-Cola Arena show is where it sits. The arena is right inside City Walk, Dubai's polished open-air dining and lifestyle district, so you can turn a two-hour concert into a full evening. Arrive early, have dinner at one of the dozens of restaurants and cafes lining the boulevards, then stroll across to the doors. You will find the venue easily on Google Maps, and parking at City Walk is plentiful — though on a sell-out night a taxi or the Dubai Metro to the nearest stop plus a short ride can save you the post-show car-park crawl.

For the full picture of what is happening across the city this summer, the Visit Dubai what's-on calendar is worth a scan too. But if you only do one thing in Dubai this July, an evening with the King of Pop's greatest hits — performed by a man who has dedicated his life to getting every detail right — is a gloriously easy choice. Block out 18 July, grab the tickets, and get ready to moonwalk.
