On 22 May, premier entertainment agency Blu Blood confirmed the news: Sonu Nigam's brand-new 'The Revolution' world tour begins at Etihad Arena on Yas Island on Friday, 21 August 2026. The launch is staged in partnership with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi and Miral, the destination operator behind Yas Island. From here the tour heads on to the United Kingdom, North America, Australia and New Zealand — but the very first stop, the one everything else is being built around, is ours.
For a UAE audience this is more than a concert announcement. The country has already been a regular tour stop for Sonu Nigam over the years, but "world tour begins in Abu Dhabi" is a different sentence. It's the kind of headline normally reserved for London or New York — and the choice tells you exactly how seriously global artists now take the UAE as a launch market.
Why the show is called 'The Revolution'
The premise is straightforward and a little audacious. After three decades of hits — from Kal Ho Naa Ho and Saathiya to the qawwali-tinged ballads and the bhajans — Sonu Nigam is curating a show that takes audiences on a single emotional arc through his entire body of work, with brand-new material woven through it. Getting there from Dubai: Etihad Arena is roughly a 90-minute drive from central Dubai via the E11 — leave by 5pm on a Friday to be comfortably parked before the gates. Careem and Uber both run inter-emirate, but pre-booking a return car after a 20,000-seat show ends saves a lot of standing in a taxi queue.
Where to stay: If you don't want the drive home, Yas Island has the largest cluster of hotels of any UAE entertainment district — W Abu Dhabi – Yas Island, Hilton Abu Dhabi Yas Island and Yas Hotel Abu Dhabi all sit a short walk or a free shuttle from the arena.
Make a day of it: Yas Island is also home to Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World, Yas Waterworld and SeaWorld Abu Dhabi — perfect if you have kids in tow or want to turn the concert into a proper weekend.
Time your dinner: Yas Bay Waterfront has a strong run of restaurants right by the arena (Asia Asia, Garage, Cipriani Yas Island). Book for 6:30pm at the latest if doors are 8pm — service inevitably backs up on show nights.
