Things to Do in Dubai This Week: June 5–11, 2026

Thursday arrives this week with a kick-off that has been circled in diaries across Dubai since the draw: 11 June, the opening match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Every sports bar from JLT to DIFC is in its final countdown, and if you have not yet figured out where you are watching, the next 48 hours are your window. Outside of that — and there is always an outside of that — Dubai this week runs at its June pace: long lunches, after-dark rooftops, and fully air-conditioned escapes that turn up the heat on your calendar rather than the city outside.

1. Thursday Is the Big One — Book Your FIFA World Cup Table

The 2026 FIFA World Cup opens its first match on Thursday 11 June across the United States, Canada and Mexico. In Dubai, evening group-stage matches land in the 8pm–midnight UAE window — prime-time viewing — with later kicks pushing to 2am–5am. My pick for the opener: a DIFC or Downtown hotel bar with a good screen-to-crowd ratio — somewhere I can taxi home from at 2am without drama. Save the beach bars and open-air fan zones for the knockout rounds when the city atmosphere cranks further up.

2. Last Call — KAYALI Sorbets at Bonbon Café (Gone After Sunday)

Before they disappear on 7 June — this Sunday — swing by Bonbon Café at The Lana, Dorchester Collection in Business Bay for four limited-edition fruity sorbets made with fragrance house KAYALI to celebrate its Eden collection. Dhs30 for a single scoop, Dhs50 for two.

3. A Long Lunch Worth Leaving the Office For — Shang Palace

Every weekday from noon to 3pm, the Dim Sum Social at Shang Palace — the Cantonese room inside Shangri-La Dubai on Sheikh Zayed Road — runs handcrafted dim sum at Dhs128 per person: delicate har gow, plump siu mai, custard buns, wok-fried specialities and desserts.

My favourite kind of unhurried midweek reset: just far enough from a desk to feel like a genuine break, generous enough to carry you through the afternoon. Reserve a window table and let the steamer baskets keep arriving.

4. Wednesday Evening Rooftop — Level 43 Sky Lounge (June 10)

Every Wednesday from 8pm to 10pm, Level 43 Sky Lounge atop the Four Points by Sheraton on Sheikh Zayed Road runs its ladies' night — Dhs43 per lady plus a 40% food discount, with a wraparound city skyline doing the heavy lifting. I love this for an easy post-work midweek catch-up: high enough to feel the city open up beneath you, affordable enough to make it a standing Wednesday ritual. The eve-of-World-Cup timing makes this week's edition a particularly good one.

5. Indoor Golf, Any Evening This Week — Five Iron Golf

Not every after-work plan needs a football screen or a sunset. Five Iron Golf inside DAMAC Towers by Paramount in Business Bay combines simulator bays, AR games and a full sports bar. The most fun I have had pretending to be sporty indoors — a genuinely good answer to 'what do we do tonight that isn't another bar?' when stepping outside means 43°C.

My honest pacing tip for this week: sort Thursday first. Once the World Cup table is booked, the rest slots in naturally — a long lunch midweek, the Level 43 rooftop Wednesday the night before, golf on any evening you need to feel like you did something sporty. June 5–11 has a clear headliner; plan around it.
