Things to Do in Dubai This Week: June 1–4, 2026
The Eid Al Adha long weekend is behind us — and if you're anything like me, the four-day pause made the city feel even more magnetic when it clicked back into gear this Monday morning. June 1st hits differently in Dubai: the temperature crosses 40°C by 9am, the streets hush in the afternoon heat, and yet by evening the whole place lights up with an energy that belongs only to summer. Here's exactly where I'd point you from Monday to Thursday this week — whether you're celebrating a return to routine or squeezing the most out of the short-week mood before the weekend.
Head to JBR For a Summer Sunset Stroll — Then Stay For Dinner
JBR The Walk is one of Dubai's best evening venues in June, and I think it's underrated because it's so obvious that people forget how good it is. By 7:30pm the sea breeze picks up from the Gulf, the post-Eid crowds have thinned, and the 2.5km promenade glows gold. The Beach at JBR — the open-air mall — has outdoor seating that genuinely works on summer evenings. Grab a table with a sea view, order a fresh juice, and let the week exhale.
If you want to eat well: Cove Beach Dubai and Zuma Beachhouse JBR both have walk-in availability on weeknights this week. For something casual, the outdoor food trucks near Reel Cinemas serve excellent street food until midnight.
Taste JLT Is Still Running — 27 Restaurants, From AED 50
If you haven't checked out Taste JLT yet, this week is your window. The DMCC two-week food trail across Jumeirah Lakes Towers runs until 12 June 2026, and 27 restaurants are offering curated set menus from AED 50 — one of the most honest summer deals in the city right now.
Go on a Tuesday or Wednesday when queues are zero. My picks from the trail: the Mediterranean set menu at Saffron Fusion, the Turkish breakfast at Pera, and the lamb shish at The Lebanese House — genuinely one of the best things you can eat in JLT for under AED 80.
GameExpo at DWTC — Dubai Esports Festival Kicks Off Thursday 5 June
Technically Dubai Esports & Games Festival 2026 starts Thursday 5 June at Dubai World Trade Centre — just touching the edge of this week. Book for Thursday evening now; cosplay Saturday is already sold out, but Thursday tickets remain. Even if competitive gaming isn't your scene, the atmosphere at DWTC during these events is electric — and it's fully air-conditioned, which in June is itself a selling point.
DIFC Gate Village — Free Culture on a Tuesday Evening
The DIFC Gate Village gallery cluster is completely free to browse on weekday evenings, and the air-conditioned galleries become especially welcome in summer. This week there are ongoing exhibitions across Leila Heller Gallery, Carbon 12, and the DIFC Art Foundation space — regional artists with work genuinely worth an hour of your time.
Walk through the indoor-outdoor plaza and grab a coffee at one of the cafés tucked under the bridge. The whole area has a Manhattan-meets-Middle-East atmosphere that photographs beautifully in early evening light.
Saturday Ahead: Shanghai Me's Maneki Brunch on 6 June
If you're planning ahead from mid-week: Shanghai Me DIFC launches its first Maneki Brunch on Saturday 6 June — lucky cat motifs, seasonal dim sum towers, a shareable format that works brilliantly for small groups or couples who want a slower Saturday than the typical nightclub-brunch setup. Book now via OpenTable; tables were moving fast when I checked last week.
Indoor Escapes for the Hottest Hours (12pm–6pm)
Even evenings have days where you'll want fully air-conditioned options for the midday block. My shortlist of what's genuinely worth doing indoors in June:
Ski Dubai at Mall of the Emirates — -1°C inside, AED 170–220 for a ski session; feels gloriously surreal in June heat
VR Park at Dubai Mall — two floors of VR experiences; great for a group with 2–3 hours to spare
Five Iron Golf at Business Bay — Trackman simulator bays + sports bar; book the post-work 6pm slots which fill quickly
Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo at Dubai Mall — underrated for adults; the glass walkthrough tunnel takes about 90 minutes
VOX or Reel Cinemas — reduced Tuesday pricing, multiple new summer blockbusters landing this week
My biggest summer tip: shift your entire social life to after 7pm. Dubai genuinely transforms at night in June — the heat becomes warm rather than brutal, the sky turns indigo, and the streets fill with a more relaxed, local crowd. The city isn't shutting down for summer; it's just changing shift. — Angel
Quick Updates for Getting Around This Week
A few things changed from 1 June: Salik tolls now carry a 5% VAT charge, so add AED 0.25 per gate crossing if you drive. Cashless parking is now mandatory in all RTA car parks — keep the RTA Dubai app handy. And if you commute by metro, the 30-day nol Travel Pass saves up to AED 250 before 26 June — well worth getting now.
