The theme park world has a new champion — and it's right here in our backyard.
I still remember the first time I walked under that Warner Bros. shield on Yas Island. The scale of it catches you off guard — the Gotham City skyline looming over the entrance, the smell of popcorn, kids shrieking somewhere near the Looney Tunes area. It felt nothing like your average mall-adjacent theme park. It felt like a full world. Turns out, the rest of the planet has noticed.
The Oscars of Theme Parks
In May 2026, Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi was awarded the Liseberg Applause Award — the single most prestigious honour in the global amusements industry. Run by IAAPA (the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions), it is awarded every two years to the park that best exemplifies excellence in guest experience, innovation, theming, and operational quality. Past winners include Disneyland and Universal's Islands of Adventure. Warner Bros. World is now the first theme park in the entire Middle East to claim it.
"The first theme park in the Middle East to win the Liseberg Applause Award — this is the moment the region's ambition in entertainment became world-class."

Inside Warner Bros. World: What Makes It Special
Unlike parks designed around white-knuckle drops, WBW Abu Dhabi's real achievement is total environmental immersion. It is entirely indoors — a blessing in Abu Dhabi's climate — and divided into six themed worlds: Gotham City, Metropolis, Cartoon Junction, Bedrock, Warner Bros. Plaza, and Dynamite Gulch. The Batman: Knight Flight simulator is brilliant; the Justice League: Warworld Attack ride layers live-action video with physical effects in a way that still impresses after multiple visits.
What's Coming: Harry Potter Land and More DC Rides
In 2026, Warner Bros. World confirmed that a Harry Potter land is in development alongside two additional DC-themed rides. No firm opening dates yet, but the Applause Award win and this expansion pipeline makes Yas Island the most exciting entertainment destination in the region right now.
